GITMO made him do it !!
I was waiting for the left and its mouthpieces to contort the story of released Guantanamo Bay detainee who carried out a suicide bombing.
Firedoglake » Guantanamo Wrecks Careers, Breeds Enemies
According to Secretary Gates, about 5-6 percent of detainees released from Guantanamo in recent years have later become involved in violence. One of those, a Kuwaiti who was captured in Afhanistan while allegedly fighting with the Taliban, was held at Gitmo from 2002 to 2005. Last month he blew himself up in Iraq:
The last words of a suicide bomber in Mosul were a rallying cry for Muslims to join the fight against Americans.
His taking-off point was his experience at the military prison at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.
In two accounts — a transcript of his conversation in a jihadist chat room and a suicide message on tape — both posted on Web sites devoted to Al Qaeda after his death, the bomber, Abdallah Salih al-Ajmi, 29, described his detention as “torture” carried out by infidels. He was in Guantánamo from 2002 to 2005.
The American military confirmed that Mr. Ajmi, a Kuwaiti, carried out a suicide bombing in Iraq last month. His relatives were the first to make public his death, and Kuwaiti newspapers reported on Thursday that he was one of three Kuwaiti suicide bombers involved in an attack in Mosul that killed several Iraqi soldiers.
I find it interesting when the left chooses to use the word “alleged”.
Pentagon: Ex-detainees returning to fight - CNN.com
WASHINGTON (CNN) — A Kuwaiti man released from U.S. custody at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in 2005 blew himself up in a suicide attack in Iraq last month, Pentagon officials said Wednesday.

This photo of Abdullah Saleh al-Ajmi was posted on a jihadist Web site.
Abdullah Saleh al-Ajmi was one of two Kuwaitis who took part in a suicide attack in Mosul on April 26, the officials said. Records show that an attack in Mosul that day targeted an Iraqi police patrol and left six people dead, including two police officers.

I’ll let the Anti-American “thinkprogresss” screed speak for itself:
Think Progress
“Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice mocked anti-American cleric Muqtada al-Sadr as a coward on Sunday, hours after the radical leader threatened to declare war unless U.S. and Iraqi forces end a military crackdown on his followers.” Spencer Ackerman remarks, “So Sadr is a coward for making threats from Iran… and Condoleezza Rice is a stateswoman for blustering Sadr into making a move that carries the potential of killing American soldiers.” And VetVoice’s Brandon Friedman comments that this echoes Bush’s “Bring ‘em on” declaration.
ThinkProgress seems to be parroting a report from the AP
The Associated Press: Rice visit to Iraq intended to promote gains
BAGHDAD (AP) — Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice mocked anti-American cleric Muqtada al-Sadr as a coward on Sunday, hours after the radical leader threatened to declare war unless U.S. and Iraqi forces end a military crackdown on his followers.
Nowhere in the AP articel does it provide a quote where Rice actually called al-Sadr a “coward. No that it would matter if she did.

Ooops is Thinkprogress wrong again ? Seems The Washington Times version of the Rice story carries a different headline.

Seems Zawahiri is a little late to the Democrat’s party of failure and defeat.
Al Qaeda declares ‘failure and defeat’ for U.S. troops in Iraq - CNN.com
Marking the fifth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, al Qaeda’s media arm released an audio recording, purportedly from the group’s second-in-command, saying U.S. troops there have failed. art.zawahiri.jpg The audiotape allegedly is from Ayman al-Zawahiri, shown here in an image taken from a videotape. “Where the American invasion stands now, after five years, is failure and defeat,” the voice on the tape — supposedly that of Ayman al-Zawahiri — said in the roughly 16-minute recording, which was posted Thursday on several militant Islamist Web sites.
What took Zawahiri so long, the Democrats were already telling us this;
Pelosi calls Iraq a ‘failure’ - Mike Allen - Politico.com
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said twice Sunday that Iraq “is a failure,” adding that President Bush’s troop surge has “not produced the desired effect.”
FOXNews.com - Sen. Joe Biden Declares Iraq Troop Buildup a Failure - Politics | Republican Party | Democratic Party | Political Spectrum
Sen. Joe Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said the military push didn’t succeed because U.S. troops remain committed there in large numbers and political reconciliation has not been achieved.
Iraq surge a failure, top Democrats tell Bush
Top US congressional Democrats bluntly told President George W. Bush Wednesday that his Iraq troop “surge” policy was a failure.
Senate Majority leader Harry Reid and House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi challenged the president over Iraq by sending him a letter, ahead of a White House meeting later on Wednesday.
A delusional and confused Huffingtonpost “er” wants the democrats to reclaim the “mantle of patriotism”.
The Whole Flag Thing Got Me Thinking - Politics on The Huffington Post
How did this happen? Did we Democrats send a memo out at some point ceding the patriotic territory to the guys (and yes, they are almost all guys) on the other side of the aisle? I know the Republicans didn’t take the flag away from us Democrats. They couldn’t. The flag belongs to all of us. So the only explanation is that we gave it away.
Yes you did give the Flag away and you would give it away to another nation just as fast if you had the chance.

Is this what the progressive arsenal has been reduced to?
Seems the latest McCain story is that he called his wife the “C” word !
And of course according the increasingly delusional nutroots this also means Republicans “really hate brown people and the poor and the gays and the disabled”
MyDD :: McCain Insulted Wife In Front of Press, Aides
We always knew that Republicans were jerks, but they often do such a good job of mugging for the cameras that it’s hard to get that story out to the public. Oh, come on, people say, do they really hate brown people and the poor and the gays and the disabled? Yeah, they do. But from Newt Gingrich to Rudi Giuliani, they also tend to hate on their wives, those lumps in the bed next to them, which I guess is just the natural consequence of being misogynist creeps. It’s also an easy point of character reference for the body politic, which is perhaps why the press has so delicately refrained from pointing out what terrible spouses so many of these wingnuts really are. And being a jerk in public to your spouse, humiliating them, the person who will put up with more crap from you than anyone in your life besides your parents, that’s just beyond the pale.
Are the nutrootls like MYDD really this stupid, claiming republicans as a whole are “terrible spouses”… to forget that one of their candidates is one of the most publicly cheated on woman in the world and the possible future “First Gentleman” is lying, cigar twirling philanderer.
And of course, Marcy Wheeler, one of the more pretentious, self righteous and arrogant snobs of the nutroot-O-sphere drags John McCain’s daughter into this.

Seems Republican Veterans running for office don’t fit the liberal main stream media agenda.
PoughkeepsieJournal.com - Lalor says Iraq veterans running for GOP are ignored
WASHINGTON — Peekskill resident Kieran Lalor says the 17 Republican congressional candidates who are Iraq veterans and support the war aren’t getting the attention they deserve in an election cycle dominated by the presidential race. The GOP field is three times as large as the group of six anti-war Iraq veterans who received national attention when they ran for Congress as Democrats two years ago, Lalor said.
One commentor on the article takes Democrat opportunist nutroot favorite John Hall to task;
John Hall has prided himself in working for the plight of veterans.
However, his support for the heroic Veterans seems somewhat questionable in the big picture. He supports Veterans yet undermines the effort of current military personnel by favoring immediate withdrawal in Iraq.
John Hall has failed to perform on his campaign promise to push for immediate withdrawal. Instead, he has been a puppet for left wing fringe groups who believe the Iraq war is the worse thing ever to happen in history by constantly passing on anti-war moveon.org talking points. Immediate Withdrawal is his mantra, yet only 20% of Americans favor such a hastily planned approach. Now, John Hall is moving a bit away from a cut and run mentality. This should upset some the left wing cut and run fanatics…
John Hall, like the rest of Democratic controlled congress, failed to end the war in Iraq. The war will continue and troops will be withdrawn, but like other parts of the world in which the U.S. toppled brutal dictators, the U.S. will remain there for a long time to come to ensure that the people of Iraq can experience liberty and freedom–not rape and torture rooms run by a tyrannical dictator.
So, if it was up to John Hall, a troop withdrawal would begin compromising the progress in Iraq. This would give way and make Iraq a bigger breeding ground for terrorism. John Hall likes cutting and running from tough situations that call for leadership and bravery in the ideal of liberty and freedom. His roots of cutting and running goes decades back to when he apparently dodged the draft…to become a ski instructor!
The credence of this story is questionable, however John Hall can answer whether or not he decided to teach skiing instead of rising to the call of duty and serving his Country (no matter how unjust the Vietnam may have been).
Duty. Honor, and Country. This is something John Hall knows little of…however he does know something about skiing apparently.

The left is gleeful thinking they found John McCain uttering a huge gaff which to them of course means that his Presidential aspirations are over. As usual the left is wrong but that doesn’t stop the Nutroots like Think Progress and MYDD.
Redstate points to a good writeup in the Weekly Standard that shows just how ignorant the left is when it comes to the Middle East and the War on Terrorism.
The Weekly Standard
Some bloggers are jumping all over Senator John McCain for his supposed “gaffe” today. According to The Trail, a blog over at the Washington Post, McCain said that Iranian operatives were “taking al-Qaeda into Iran, training them and sending them back.”
——–
But McCain was right the first time. He shouldn’t have taken his statement back. And it’s the bloggers who are ignorant–not John McCain.
