Congress Wants Towns to Get Into The House Flipping Business »

Seems most States, Towns and Municipalities across the nation can barely fix their potholes.

So now Barney Frank and the House Financial Services Committee want to give states $15 BILLION dollars to buy vacated homes??

Bloomberg.com: Worldwide

A U.S. House panel approved a measure to help states buy and refurbish foreclosed homes as lawmakers move to stabilize the U.S. real-estate market in the wake of the subprime-mortgage crisis.

The House Financial Services Committee approved creation of a $15 billion loan-and-grant program during a hearing today in Washington, sending it to the full House for its consideration. The program would focus on owner-vacated homes and split the funds evenly between grants and loans.

House Financial Services Committee

The bill would establish a $15 billion, HUD-administered loan and grant program for the purchase and rehabilitation of owner-vacated, foreclosed homes with the goal of stabilizing and occupying them as soon as possible. $7.5 billion of the funds would be for loans, and the other $7.5 billion would be for grants.

Good Grief!

Who Makes More off Gas, Big Oil or Uncle Sam? »

Well if you live in one of the more Progressive / Liberal / Democrat states the answer is definitely Uncle Sam.

FactCheck.org:
Does the government really make more in taxes from the sale of a gallon of gasoline than the oil companies do?

“Unfortunately, there’s no real simple answer,” says Lucian Pugliaresi, president of the Energy Policy Research Foundation, which conducts economic analyses of energy issues and is supported by oil companies. It depends on when the gasoline was purchased. “If you bought it right now, I’d say the government is making more.” If the gasoline was purchased a month ago or last year, that may not have been the case. And the answer further depends on what type of company the question refers to. Refineries, Pugliaresi says, are hurting right now. “If you’re an independent refinery, the answer is definitely they’re making a lot less than the government.”

Yet progressive democrats like Clinton, Obama, Kennedy, Schumer, Edwards…… have the gall to stick their faces in front of a camera every chance they get to denounce “Big Oil” for their profits.
